GFA Certification is the first FSC accredited certification body who developed a standard for the certification of non-timber forest products for Vietnam. This allows Vietnamese forestry companies for the first time to include products such as latex, bamboo, rattan, honey and other by-products within the scope of their FSC certificate.
Non-timber forest products (NTFP) from responsible forest management are in increasing demand and sales opportunities for FSC-certified products such as natural rubber are encouraging. They have high potential for the diversification of forest enterprises, can provide additional income for smallholder farms in particular, and therefore often contribute significantly to rural development.
